Trade Body vote in favour for CITB Levy survival

Members of Build UK, the leading representative organisation for the UK construction industry, voted in favour for the continuation of the CITB, but has called for a clear reform programme.
The CITB must win more than 50% of the vote in terms of levy payers and value of the levy paid to continue for the next 3 years. With Build UK’s backing the levy is expected to win the vote, however confirmation of the result is expected to be announced in late October.
Although the levy is expected to continue, changes are expected as Build UK and the Federation of Master Builders both expressed the need for reforms to the current system with regard to its strategic direction, governance, funding and communication to employers, levy payers and the construction industry as a whole.
