On the third day of Christmas, Aspire shared with me…a story of modern slavery!

09 December 2019

Little donkey, little donkey on the dusty road

Poor conditions, payment breaches, until you overload

Been a long time, little donkey, every day and night

don't give up now, little donkey,

The GLAA's in sight.

The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) are a Non-Departmental Public Body. Their role is to protect vulnerable and exploited workers throughout the industry. They have the power to investigate reports of worker exploitation and illegal activity such as human trafficking and illegal labour provision. Their investigations will usually be run in conjunction with other government departments such as immigration and HMRC.

If your organisation has an annual turnover of £36m or more, you must publish a modern slavery statement on your website each year. It must set out the steps you have taken to ensure modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in your business or supply chains.

Make sure your noëledge is up to date on modern slavery!
