COVID-19: CITB levy holiday until September

26 June 2020

  • In the Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) Skills Stability Plan 2020/21 published yesterday, 25 June 2020, the CITB detailed the steps they are taking to help businesses recover from the pandemic.
  • Employers will not be required to pay the levy until September 2020.
  • Employers will then have up to a full year to pay the 2020/21 levy.
  • The training organisation has also proposed halving its 2021/22 levy rate which they will collect from September 2021, with an option to spread payments up to March 2022.
  • Companies will therefore pay 18 months out of the next 24, which equates to a 25% saving across two years.

This update follows on from the CITB’s previous statement to suspend levy bills for at least three months in March 2020, see our news here. This payment holiday will allow employers who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to build their business back up without having the burden of paying their levy bill.
