Budget 2021: Low Pay Commission remit 2021

09 March 2021

  • Following the Chancellor’s budget announcement on 3 March 2021, the Low Pay Commission remit 2021 was released.
  • The document outlines the areas that should be considered when the LPC are recommending the 2022 National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates, which must be done by October 2021.

The NMW and NLW rates from April 2021 were announced on 25 November 2020.

Aspire Comment:

Whilst further increases in NMW and NLW rates would be good news for workers, given the current climate and uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, it could present worries about further cost implications for some employers who will need to factor in the increased cost of labour supply either by lowering profit, necessitating further cost saving initiatives, or increasing their charges.

If you are concerned about your compliance with the NLW/NMW, please contact Aspire on 0121 445 6178 or email enquire@aspirepartnership.co.uk to discuss how we can identify any risk areas within your company.
