Closure of SSP Rebate Scheme

  • The Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) rebate Scheme will close on 17 March 2022
  • This means employers will no longer be able to claim back SSP for employees’ COVID related absences or any self-isolation that occurs after this date
  • The deadline for employers to claim for periods up to 17 March 2022 is 24 March 2022

For COVID related absences from 17 March 2022 onward, the normal SSP rules will apply. In this regard, many employers will revert to paying SSP from the fourth qualifying day that their employee is not in the workplace.
