22.04.13 OTS Review of Travel and Subsistence Expenses

22 April 2013

22nd April 2013

Further to the announcement by the Office of Tax Simplification that there will be a full review of the rules surrounding employee expenses and benefits, the Director of the Association of Labour Providers – David Camp has announced that the ALP has been invited to discuss the issues surrounding travel and subsistence schemes as part of the review.  ALP members are invited to contribute to this review via submission of oral evidence to the project team at HM Treasury offices in Whitehall on Tuesday 14th May at 3pm.

Aspire Business Partnership LLP welcomes the inclusion of the ALP in this process.  ALP members are responsible for the provision of workers on the lowest pay rates, for whom the granting of tax relief on qualifying travel and subsistence expenses can greatly improve take-home pay.

Aspire Business Partnership has also been invited to participate in the OTS project and we will be meeting with John Whiting (OTS Tax Director) on 23rd May 2013.  We see this review as a valuable opportunity to simplify the legislation surrounding employee expenses and benefits, hopefully leading to clarity and a level playing field.
