Data Protection Act 2018 comes into force today

Today marks the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) which will apply in all EU member states. The UK equivalent, the Data Protection Act 2018, also comes into force today after reaching Royal Assent on 23rd May 2018.

Therefore, as of today, non-compliance with data protection legislation could cost you 20 million Euros, or 4% of your global annual turnover, whichever is higher.
